6/24/2020 11:52:00 AM Says letter writer needs to
consider some fact checking
I am writing in regards to a letter to the editor in the Plain Dealer of June 4 titled "Swamp Includes National Journalist" written by Mr. Phillip Hammersley. It's been a few months since this person has written to the editor with his normal childish name calling and and total lack of facts. I thought he had become enlightened and learned how wrong Trump and his kind have been. I guess not.
In the past, Mr. Mayer would have printed all 400 words and edited that mess by using words like "allegedly" and "in this writer's opinion." I guess others won't be wasting so much ink. Myself and others have fact checked this person's work many times these past few years and found nothing but parroted opinions form far right winged zealots. Just like Limb laugh and Fox entertainment news, facts could not be found.
His kind can't find "conclusive evidence of collusion" in the many congressional hearings or independent prosecutors' investigations. Even the words right out of President Vladimir Putin's mouth won't convince them. Don't they remember the press conference Putin and Trump had last year where he admitted the Russian government helped the trump campaign during the 2016 election? He told the world he wanted to work with Trump instead of Clinton.
These people don't even think civil crimes are real crimes. Fraud, deceptive business practices, violations of the Fair Housing Act and many civil rights violations toward people of color are all crimes Mr. Trump has been convicted of.
He's paid millions of dollars in fines and restitution these past 30 years and there are still crimes he has committed but can't be prosecuted for until January of 2021. That's when he will just be another citizen, unable to hide behind executive privilege.
You then write into the June 11 paper and tell the editor that you looked up your facts on the internet so they can't be wrong. Was that a joke? The Flat Earth Society has a website. That doesn't make their crazy opinions factual. Those poor souls that think the moon landings were faked, they too have a large following, but nonetheless are wrong.
Barbara King will not tolerate such crazy talk, nor should she. There's been enough of that these past 3.5 years. These new ultra right winged conservative TV shows don't really care about facts; they just want ratings. They lie to make money. Sounds like Trump and his collage of real estate that cost him 50 million in fines and restitution. Perhaps you should check with CNN or MSNBC when you're doing your fact checking. Whoever or whatever you're using, is doing you a great injustice.
If your personal knowledge is not factual, then it's worthless and you should never try to pass it off as the truth. There are too many of us over the age of 70 that know the truth. Through the truth we have gained wisdom. I hope one day you can join us.
